The Homebuyers Club (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides educational tools and content for first-time property buyers. This policy explains what personal data we collect through our website and affordability calculator, why we collect it, and your rights over it. For the purposes of UK data protection law, The Homebuyers Club is the data controller.
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at [email protected].
When you use our affordability calculator and request your results, we collect: your first name; your email address; the figures you enter into and receive from the calculator (such as your deposit, savings, target property price, income, estimated borrowing, estimated costs and region); and whether you have consented to receive marketing emails, along with the date and time of that consent. We may also collect basic technical information such as the source of your visit (for example, which social media link you arrived from).
We use your name, email and calculator figures to send you the personalised results you asked for. The lawful basis for this is that it is necessary to provide the service you requested.
If — and only if — you tick the marketing consent box, we use your email to send you related guidance, tips and occasional offers about buying your first home. The lawful basis for this is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
We use technical and source information to understand how people find us and to improve our content. The lawful basis for this is our legitimate interest in running and improving our service.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
We keep calculator enquiry data for up to 24 months from your last interaction with us, after which it is deleted or anonymised. If you join our marketing list, we keep your data until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you go on to purchase a product from us, we keep the records necessary to meet our legal and tax obligations (typically up to 6 years).
We use trusted third-party providers to operate our service — for example, our customer-relationship and email platform (GoHighLevel) and our payment processor (Stripe). These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements. Some may process data outside the UK; where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by UK data protection law. We may also disclose data where we are legally required to.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you; to ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate; to ask us to delete it; to object to or restrict how we use it; to withdraw consent for marketing at any time; and to ask for a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Every marketing email we send contains an “unsubscribe” link at the bottom. Clicking it stops marketing emails immediately. You can also email us at [email protected] to be removed. Note that unsubscribing from marketing does not stop service messages relating to something you have specifically requested or purchased.
Our affordability calculator provides rough, educational estimates only. It is not mortgage, financial or legal advice, and the figures are illustrations, not lending decisions or guarantees.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed.
